Watch Box - Commission
The starburst (sunburst) pattern is one of the most requested designs I'm asked to create for commissions.
This watch box is made from African Padauk with highlights and interior in Sycamore. The design on the top is made from thirty-two individual, wedge shaped pieces of wood placed to form a starburst pattern. The front, sides and back are cut so that the grain flows around the box in a continuous pattern.
The finish is high gloss, twenty-six coats, hand smoothed and polished to achieve a wet look on the wood.
Fitted with gold plated fixings, the interior is fully lined in deep blue suede material with eight matching watch cushions.
The initials are inlaid with Mother of Pearl into a diamond of Padauk finished in Natural Danish Oil.
